Well the end of the year is upon us and a lot of things have happened.  Games have come and gone from our shelves.  According to Warhammer 40K the APOCALYPSE is upon us.  Over in the land of Warmachine be careful because the PIRATES have landed on the BROKEN COAST, but be cautious while traveling the wild because the HORDES have started an EVOLUTION phase.  In Rackham's camp they have brought two games to us this year.  AT-43 and CONFRONTATION AGE OF RAGNOROK.  Both games are using pre-painted plastic miniatures and in my opinion both have the chance of being big sellers in 2008.  Rackham has had a few problems this year and have now partnered with Fantasy Flight Games to distribute their product to the America.  Will this help them only time will tell.

On the board game front we have seen such spectacular games as  STAR-CRAFT the Board game.  This is a game that plays like a fast paced risk game in space.  TIDE OF IRON which is a WWII miniatures board game.  After finally getting a chance to sit down and play a game recently.  I think that the game itself is very interesting and plays a little like the Axis and Allies Miniatures game that came out a few years back.  Asmodee Editions released a game called FRONTIERS: LIBERTY OR DEATH which breaks board game normalcy by making a tabletop miniatures game into a board game format.  They took all the miniatures needed for the game and made them out of cardboard.  In fact the more that I look at the game I think that they took the safe approach to the miniatures genre.

CCGS saw there usual increase in releases.  Magic the Gathering has released several new sets with the latest being LORWYN.  Legend of the Five rings has seen a new set released with the new Samurai edition which is the first set to release a new starter set in the last few years for this game.  World of Warcraft the card game has seen a few releases with the latest being MARCH OF THE LEGIONS.  Yugioh has continued its reign with the younger players with regular releases of sets.

RPGs have had their ups and downs and have continued with there constant releases into the market.  Wizards of the Coast hit us with there big news this year at GEN CON.  They told us that this coming year we will see the release of the 4th edition of Dungeons and Dragons.

Many games have been released and I am most certain that many more will be released in the new year.  Which ones will be the kings and which will be utter embarrassment to the gaming community.  Only time will tell, but please keep supporting your local retailer and continue to play games at Victory Games.

Congratulations go out to Wes Mensching for taking first place in the recent Warhammer escalation league that took place over the last four months.  Out of a group of 9 people that played in the event he rose to the challenge and defeated all that stood before him.

Looking for a new game to play?  Want to play a miniatures game but don't have the time to paint or don't like to?  Then check out the AT-43 website.  When your done looking at the site come on down to Victory Games on Sunday Oct. 21st and try a demo of the game.  Demos will be running from 11am until 4pm.  If you don't see a game running just ask one of our staff and they will run a demo of the game for you.

The warhammer escalation league held its third week today.  9 players are fighting it out to see who is the best small scale general.  After 3 weeks Wes is sitting at the top of the hill with 24 points but, right on his heels are Todd and Will.

Next month on Nov 11th will be the final round of the escalation league.  These will be 500pt battles.  The winner of the the final round will get there name posted here on the website and at the store.  They will also receive a blister pack to help with the expansion of there armies.

In December to replace the escalation league we will be running warhammer 40k apocalypse style events.  Stay tuned for more information as it gets closer to the event.

Well the 'Ardboyz Tourney was held on Sept 22nd, but was only participated by two people John Zelko and Dan Cevaal.  The Battle was a hard fought 2500pt battle between the Imperial Guard Armored Company and the Black Templar Space Marine Chapter.  After 6 turns of explosive battle when the dust cleared the Imperial Guard stood tall.  Congrats go out to Dan Cevaal for winning his battle.  We wish him luck in the next round of this competition at Virtual Magic
